JAPAN-IMF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM overview

The Japan-IMF Advanced Research Scholarship Program (JISP) is a two-year program designed to support Japanese students to pursue a doctoral degree. A degree in Macroeconomics prepares you for employment as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The scholarship is funded by the Government of Japan and run by the IMF’s Capacity Development (ICD) with the support of the Institute of International Education (IIE).

Each year, up to seven scholarships are awarded to students with outstanding academic performance as part of a competitive selection process. All her JISP scholars are required to apply for her IMF Economist Program (EP) position after completing her PhD. If a job is offered they must accept it.
