Targeting low-competition scholarship is often beneficial to increase your chances of success when applying for grants. Focusing on scholarships with low applicants may help you stand out among applicants. Here are some steps you can take to find and apply for low-competition scholarships.
Study-Specific Criteria:
Look for scholarships with specific eligibility criteria. Some scholarships may require applicants to meet certain criteria such as: A particular field of study, geographic location, or demographic background. You may be able to reduce competition by narrowing your search to scholarships that match your qualifications.
Utilize scholarship search engines: Utilize scholarship search engines and online platforms dedicated to providing scholarship information. These platforms allow you to filter and search for scholarships based on various criteria such as level of study, specialization, and location. Popular scholarship search engines include Fastweb, Scholarshipshither.com and Peterson’s Scholarship Search.
Discover local organizations and businesses: Find research grants offered by local organizations, community foundations and businesses near you. Applicants for these scholarships are likely to be fewer compared to national or international scholarships. Check with your school career advisor, community center or local library for scholarships available in your area.
Check college websites: Visit college websites that offer programs in your area of interest. Many educational institutions offer their own scholarship programs for students and international students. These scholarships are only for a specific group of people, so they may have less competition.
Network and Inquire: Connect with professors, academic advisors, or experts in your field and inquire about scholarships and funding opportunities they know of. Networking can help you find hidden scholarships and grants with low competition.
Once you find a less competitive scholarship, follow the application process described by the scholarship provider.
Be mindful of deadlines, submission requirements, and specific documents and essays that need to be submitted. Customize your application to highlight your qualifications, achievements and future aspirations. Before submitting your application, please proofread it thoroughly to make sure it is error-free and effectively showcases your strengths. Remember that it is important to put effort and dedication into your application, even for low-competition scholarships. I wish you good luck!
